Advertising can help your business in a many different ways. One of the best ways to get free marketing is by using a social media platform for your business. You will not need to pay for ads and, if you follow trends, posting regularly can positively affect your customers. Twitter sits at number four on the most visited websites online.
In this blog post, I will share what I found to be the most beneficial strategies through my research online and with my personal experience of seeing brands on Twitter. I will be using two different articles I read and I will summarize the three things that I find most important from these articles. I recommend taking a deeper look into each article if you wish to pursue social media marketing on twitter.
The first two articles I will be referencing comes directly from Twitter Business. TB is an offshoot of the main site that helps brands build their image online by giving them helpful tips through different blog posts: Five Tips For Getting Your Brand Noticed and 4 things to consider when building your brand’s Twitter strategy are the two articles I will be pulling tips from. I highly recommend checking this website out and searching in their search bar any other questions that you have.
The next article is by Ted Prodromou from entrepreneur.com. Ted published the Ultimate Guide to Twitter for Business. He shares some good insight about how to act as a brand on twitter and how to keep up with the content flow. You can find his article here.
Here are the most important things I took away from those two articles summed up in three points.

Create your Company Attitude

You want your company to display its attitude. If you keep the attitude consistent, customers will tie it into how they see your brand. There are a few different attitudes that most companies use. Choose an attitude and stick to it, and pretend your brand is a person. A few you can choose from are as follows:
  • Excitement. It's easy to spot a person who's excited on Twitter. These people love life, and they love everything they do. They also love to share their excitement with the Twitter verse, and it's fun to follow these people.
  • Sincerity. We all know the sincere people in our lives. They really care about you and your well-being. They Tweet the same way by always being genuine, caring, and sincere when they converse with others on Twitter.
  • Ruggedness. These are the tough guys who never shed a tear. Their Tweets sound like John Wayne or Clint Eastwood confronting their adversaries and never backing down.
  • Competence. This is a well-educated, knowledgeable person who loves to Tweet information that will impress others.
  • Sophistication. Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian are sophisticated Tweeters. They love to Tweet pictures of their shopping trips and expensive cars, and let you know they're eating in the finest restaurants.

Engage Current Trends

People want to engage with your company, not be pitched. Engaging in current trends will help you appear more regularly on people’s timelines. It also motivated them to share what you post. Here are a few ways to engage current trends:
  • Pay attention to memes. Memes are taking over a large majority of what is being shared online. Creating a meme that relates to your company will make you seem relatable and current.
  • Post on holidays and for special events. This will help the company stay current, there is always something to post about, find a way to tie it into your brand.
  • Keep an eye out for competition. Recognizing or even reacting to your competition on twitter makes both parties seem more human. Everyone loves banter.

The Golden Rule

Be positive, be kind, and approachable. At the end of the day, you want people to be happy when they interact with you on Twitter. You can be positive while staying in line with your company attitude. Here are some things that can make your brand seem pragmatic:
  • Keep things light. You can use humor to spark conversation. Ask a funny question or say something that others can relate too.
  • Reply helpfully. When you are interacting with your followers you want to give them the resources they need to be satisfied. If they give you a bad review, do whatever you can to make it right. Keep in mind, your response is public.
  • Celebrate your success. Keep your followers updated on how your company is doing. Make them feel like they are a main contributor to your company's advancements.
Use these tips to create a successful brand image. Be silly on Twitter. At the end of the day, people just like to feel like they can relate.
