Positions and Roles
You can take a position without being enrolled in CMST 490E-704 (Organizational Communication Practicum). If you are in practicum, you and Craig will develop a learning path for credit. (The following information is basic ideas, each officer is expected to set their own goals, roles, and responsibilities that suit their professional objectives.
Chief Executive Officer - CEO
- Set annual goals and objectives for the organization on an annual basis
- Work directly with faculty advisor to complete assigned administrative tasks and responsibilities
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to other others executives, and assist them as necessary
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for C3 and represent its interests at campus events by advocating for C3
- Maintain regular schedule in C3/PR office
- Serve as primary liaison between faculty and organization
- Serve as primary liaison between graduate students and organization
- Serve as primary liaison between undergraduate students and faculty/graduate students
- Facilitate positive working relationship among other CMST organizations, including PRSSA and SCO
Chief Experience Officer - CXO
- Assist CEO fulfill goals and objectives of the organization as they relation to experiences
- Work directly with the C/HRM manager to maintain a positive and fun organizational culture
- Working with CTO, develop training seminars that serve the interests of current students
- Plan and develop a strategy for executing the large events (co-)sponsored by the organization
- Delegate tasks as necessary to members
- Serve as the primary brand ambassador for the organization at special events across campus and the community
- Identify emerging trends relevant to the organization and stakeholders and recommend them to other executives
- Identify unique opportunities for the organization’s involvement in activities across campus
- Create engaging and creative experiences for students, faculty, and alumni
Chief Marketing Officer - CMO
- Develop and execute a social marketing and traditional marketing social strategy that increases engagement with C3 activities
- Hold primary responsibility over the department’s social media accounts
- Operationalize the department’s social media goals and promote relevant events across all channels
- Delegate social and channel responsibilities to direct reports
- Work with CTO to develop and maintain a social media training certification program (required of all members who work on the department’s social)
- Develop a pipeline of stories
- Establish a content calendar centered around main events and minor events
- Monitor social media engagement and develop reporting dashboards to share with faculty on a monthly basis
- Work with department to develop strategies for increased department branding across social and traditional media
- Work with the university’s and college’s web administrators to develop opportunities for increased engagement among shared followers
- Delegate responsibilities and tasks to improve the siuc3.com site
Chief Training Officer - CTO
- Identify opportunities for training and development of students
- Work with CMO to develop and maintain certification programs
- Develop relations across campus to develop opportunities for experiential learning
- Work with career services to develop training opportunities for students in class
- Promote the talent development capabilities of faculty and students to other organizations across campus
- Maintain a speaker’s bureau and promote the talents through organization
- Develop co-curricular learning opportunities for students and work with instructors to provide incentives for additional learning
Client & Human Relations Manager - C/HRM
- Maintain positive relationships between organization and key stakeholders (students, alumni, faculty, administration, community)
- Resolve conflicts that emerge among members of the organization
- Work with other organizations and recruit students to
- Identify opportunities for for C3 recruitment.
- Develop training seminars that serve the interests of current students
- Keep in contact and work with other organizations (event planning, etc.)
