The Speaking Your Story Project is an opportunity for you to share your perspectives on important matters that affect your life. The project is an opportunity to foster your own narratives in a creative and meaningful manner. By choosing to speak on one of our thought-provoking questions, you are turning your truth into empowerment for you and those around you.

Submissions can include a written format like a blog, a story, or even a poem. You might even choose to present your response like a video, spoken word, or performance. You have creative freedom to express your own response in many unique and different methods. Want to try your hands at a painting or sculpture? Or format your narrative as if you were running a podcast? The possibilities are endless, because we want to hear from you!

Our goal is to allow you to express yourself and share with us the journey that has led you to where you are today. The Speaker’s Center and the Communication Studies department want to hear from you and amplify your voice to celebrate what makes your story powerful. Next semester your work will be displayed on our social media and website leading up to the Speaker’s Forum event and we encourage you to ask your instructor if they are offering extra credit for submissions!
